Self Therapy Session 14

Hello everyone and welcome to another session of Self Therapy. The past week has been tiring, exhausting and yet, satisfying.

Here is a quick link to Session 13:

Starting with the most important, mental health. It has been a roller coaster of emotions. For the first time in months I had a glimpse of a thought to quit my job. I quickly shrugged it off thinking that this will further delay my dream and I cannot afford it. So I will keep hanging if I must.

One thing I have started doing that always works out for me. I keep telling myself this job is just a phase, it is not my life. I keep repeating it over and over and over again till I relax and calm down. I say, remember how things were an year back? 2 years back? 5 years back? Are they the same now? And the answer is they have changed every single time. Mostly for the better, so why would it be different this time around? I am well equipped now to deal with my demons.

Next is physical health which is blossoming (touchwood). People have started noticing changes and each complement further motivates me to work even harder at the gym. I am going almost everyday. It is my happy place. I love working out.

Talking about my job, it is going through a rough patch. I was told I will be moving to a different department which was supposedly a step up but that has not happened in two weeks and it has got me thinking if it will happen. Furthermore they have put me in a timing that I am not comfortable with and that too without my consent. I am not liking it one bit but just carrying on.

Lastly, my dream. What I live for. Why I bare the pain. Why I keep going. I am 2.5 months in now. It makes me so happy. That I am moving closer towards it. Whenever I set my mind onto something in life I have made it happen. If not the first time then the second and if not second then the third attempt.

That was about it. On weekends I focus on meeting friends. Eating out. Watching a movie or a show. Basically keeping busy and prepping up for the coming week. Which I know is going to be tough so I prepare to be tougher.

That is about it. You tell me how has your week been. And what was the highlight in comments 😊

Nothing else matters

Working on your dream is at times a lonely journey. In order to focus, you need to cut away many distractors and time wasters. You fall, you get back up and this happens on a repeat loop. All while the world carries on at it’s usual pace.

There are days that break you and moments that shake you.

You still keep going.

No one asks you how you are doing.

You still keep going.

Those who are close to you become distant.

You still keep going.

You get knocked down many a times.

You still keep going.

The world tells you that YOU cannot do it.

You still keep going.

There is thunder, there is storm; rain and sunshine.

You still keep going.

Because as long as you are walking towards your dream, nothing else matters.

Self Therapy Session 13

Hello everyone, time for another session of Self Therapy. Reviewing the past week has been a mix of good and bad. Which is nothing abnormal, that’s how it should be.

I would start with work because this has been the main highlight. I have been moved to another department. Lately I have been having a lot of arguments at work. There is a lot of overtime that is not justified. The pay is not transparent and this just demotivates you on the whole. However I have decided I will not quit. I cannot quit on everything. I have to keep going no matter how tough it gets, until I have something to move on to.

Next comes mental health, things have been sorted in this department. Thanks to good sleep and workout. If this balance keeps up, the days are better.

Physical health is going good, except the tummy growing a bit πŸ˜›

I think that is ok, given the 9 hour job is to sit at a desk and work.

What I look forward in the coming week is for things to get sorted at work. I want to enjoy work and be happy or atleast content when I am at work.

Last let’s talk about my dream. I am now 120 days away from fulfilling it. I will need your prayers to do this. I an very hopeful and excited.

That is all from my side, do leave updates about your week in comments 😊

Face the facts

I’ve been reading this book these days, “The power of positive thinking” and in a chapter which states how to create your own happiness there is a point which says the first step is to face the facts.

This particular point hit me as it got me thinking about facts related to me that I had been ignoring for the longest of time. Let me put them all out here:

1- Life won’t be a straight line, never. So always be ready for turbulence.

2- To achieve what I have set my mind to, I will have to work two times harder than any other individual. And that’s okay.

3- Good things take time. Stop rushing and go with the flow.

4- The state I am in today is a 100 times better than the state I was in 6 months back.

5- I am getting better. Every moment. Every second. I’ll get there.

6- To achieve meaningful things I will have to make solid commitments and stick to them.

Until and unless you face YOUR facts, you cannot move on to the second step. I won’t be posting the second step here otherwise what would be the point of you all reading the book? πŸ˜›

Go ahead, grab a copy, it is by author Norman Vincent Peale.

Special Blogger Award

So my friend Sophie made her own blogger award, because why not? 😁

Hobby for now, maybe full time in the long run.

Inspirational posts that give hope to others.

4.) What are your favourite kind of blog posts to write?

Yes. Because now I know there are many others out there like me. My stories motivate them and that makes me feel good in turn.

Well many do not know about it and I want to keep it that way. Which is why I have not even revealed my own self here.

Be real. Do not go for follows or comments.

8.) If you could go back to when you first began your blog, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Write it. Write it all.

9.) What is your top tip for growing a blog?

Be appreciative. Genuinely, not just for the sake of it.

Once a week. Self therapy post I do religiously every week.

My Questions:

1- What dream are you working toward right now?

2- What seems to be your biggest obstacle?

3- If things happened the way you wanted, how would life be different?

4- Are you thankful of your weaknesses or you see them as a curse?

Self Therapy Session 12

Hello everyone and welcome to another session of Self Therapy 😊

Please don’t mind any grammatical mistakes since I am walking towards my gym as I type this.

Let’s review the past week starting with the most important- mental health. The sleep has significantly improved, I wake up fresh with the thought of conquering my day. Mood has been uplifted and I do see friends every now and then.

Next let’s discuss physical health, been gaining weight. Have gained 2 ksgs in past 2 months easily. Not a good sign as my tummy shows and trust me it’s not a pleasant sight πŸ˜›

Anyway I am working out regularly and the gains are evident, a pleasant sight I must say πŸ˜‰

Coming to work, it’s all good. Overtime gets too much and is taking a toll but we are being told it’s temporary so just hanging on for now.

All in all a good week. My therapist says I now have a better ability to articulate my feelings which is a positive sign ofcourse. There is definite progress. Hoping to have an even better week. That will be all, see you in another session next week.

You guys let me know about your week in comments πŸ™‚

How to ask for help

Just listened to this podcast of a ted talk by Heidi Grant where she talked about 4 ways to ask for help. Got some great insights which I thought would be nice to share and helpful for others.

1- Be very specific with what you need help with. This makes it clear for your helper with regard to what exactly you need help with.

*Example: I would like your advice on getting into medical school.

2- Avoid disclaimers/apologies/bribes. This makes your helper feel uncomfortable. Furthermore adding incentives in return of help makes it more like a transaction when reaching out to a friend or coworker for help.

*Example: I am sorry I have to ask you this or I hate bothering you but I need your help.

3- DO NOT ask for help over email or text. You probably think it is less awkward to ask for help over these mediums but guess what is even less awkward? Saying NO on email or text.

*Example: Some people even go to the extent of emailing a group of 10 people asking if ONE of them could help.

4- Follow up with the person who agrees to help you.

If I have no idea how my help facilitated you in getting what you wanted, how would I feel about it with regard to the time and effort spent in helping you.

*Example: This is why donor appeals are so effective. You get letters and pictures from the person or organization you helped which further encourages you to help others. Other ways to follow up include- Your advice helped me getting that big sale or your support really helped me during my dark times.

Fitness Junkie Here

Today, I met a fine young man at my gym and we had a very meaningful interaction. So meaningful that I could not resist making a post about it.

I won’t go into details, but this guy had made himself go through a massive transformation. He had lost 20+ kgs of weight through strict discipline at a young age of only 19 years.

When I asked how he did it, his reply was, “The day my father told me that I was useless and could do nothing in life was the day when I replied back than in 5 years I will turn my physique, grades and life around.”

He did not go to a restaurant for over an year just to achieve his goal. He would not go out with friends, stay at home and prepare for the goal he had set to achieve. He worked day and night to make it happen for himself. And finally the universe responded and gave him what he wanted. He says he will not stop here and will continue to dream bigger and achieve better.

By the way, it is his instagram username in the title of my post πŸ˜‰

Do give a follow but don’t tell him about my post 🀫
